MuyuRide Escrow Explained: Why Your Money Is Always Safe

The most common question we get from new senders is: "What if I pay and the traveler disappears with my money?" It's a fair question. You're trusting a stranger with your parcel and your money. Here's why that trust is backed by a system — not just hope.

What Is Escrow?

Escrow is a financial arrangement where a neutral third party (MuyuRide) holds funds on behalf of two parties (you and the traveler) until specific conditions are met. In our case, the condition is simple: your parcel is delivered and you confirm receipt.

How It Works Step by Step

• You post your order and a traveler accepts it.
• You pay the delivery fee via M-Pesa or card. The money goes to MuyuRide's escrow account — not to the traveler.
• The traveler picks up your parcel. They can see that payment is secured in escrow.
• The traveler delivers your parcel and marks it as delivered.
• You receive a notification and have 48 hours to confirm delivery or file a dispute.
• If you confirm (or don't respond within 48 hours), the funds are released to the traveler minus MuyuRide's service fee.
• If you file a dispute, the funds are frozen while our team investigates.

What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

If your parcel is lost, damaged, or not delivered, you file a dispute through the app. Our Trust & Safety team investigates within 5 business days. If the dispute is resolved in your favor, you receive a full or partial refund to your original payment method.
